Swim Details
The swim course is a 2.4 mile down river swim on the Tennessee River. This is not a race or a timed event it is a piloted practice swim for those interested in swimming in the Tennessee River. Swimmers will board the Southern Belle River Boat located at Ross’s Landing in Downtown Chattanooga http://chattanoogariverboat.com/ head up river 2.4 miles where the boat will lower its gangway to the water and swimmers will enter the river and start their swim back down river to Ross’s Landing
During check in on swim day all participants will receive a swim cap, a clear plastic bag for your personal belongings, and be body marked. The number on the swim cap and body marking will correspond to your registration number.
The swim course will be on river left it will have buoys along it to help with sight lines and swimmers will have pilots in kayaks and on stand up paddle boards to assist any swimmer who needs help. In addition to the pilots there will also be power boats monitoring the course and other river traffic.
All personal belongings left on the boat in your clear plastic bag will be transported back down river and will be waiting for you at the swim exit.
Open water swimming is not for beginners. Only swimmers who are experience open water swimmers should sign up and participate. If you have never swam more than a mile at one time than this is not the event for you. Please be honest with yourself and your abilities when considering signing up for this event.

7:30am swimmers board Southern Belle River Boat and head up river
8:00am swimmers enters water
10:00am last swimmer exits water
11:00am lunch for pilots and volunteers served on 3rd Deck Burger Bar
Weather contingency:
The swim will be postponed or cancelled due to hazardous weather or river conditions. In case of severe weather the day of we will delay our start up to an hour, after an hour if the weather is still severe we will cancel the event.
Refund policy
If the swim is canceled due to weather or river conditions day of event swimmers will receive a full refund minus a $10 handling fee. No refunds will be given for participant cancellations within 72 hours of event. All other cancellations swimmers will receive a full refund minus $10 handling fee.
